Week 6 | Day 2 – RISEN THINKING OR STINKING THINKING – Romans 8:5-11

Romans 8:5–11 draws a clear line explaining that whatever rules my mind will rule my life. The flesh pulls me downward toward self and death, while the Spirit lifts me toward God and life. In Christ, the Spirit already lives in me—proof that I’m alive to God now and guaranteed resurrection later. The same Spirit who raised Jesus will raise me too. Yet until His return, I challenged to learn to think Spirit-first, not flesh-first—to let resurrection power shape today’s choices while I wait for that future raising.

APPLICATION

1 - SET

Set your mind on things above, again and again (see Colossians 3:1–2). Attention is allegiance.

2 - STARVE

Starve the flesh and feed the Spirit with Scripture, worship, prayer, obedience, fellowship, and service (see Galatians 5:16–23)

3 - STEP

Take the next right step, not the next easy step but the small Spirit-led steps of trust and obedience that form a Spirit-abiding life.

4 - SEE

View every temptation as training and opportunity to allow resistance to grow spiritual muscle realizing that as you trust the Lord that He will see you through every temptation (see 1 Corinthians 10:13).

5 - SECURE

Anchor your hope to God’s Spirit and to God’s promises in His Word. Live each day in the hope of His return.

PRAYER

Lord, teach me to think in the Spirit and walk by the Spirit so that I will not live to gratify my flesh. Make me wise to my weaknesses, alert to the enemy’s schemes, and unshaped by a world trying to press me into its mold. Draw me to abide in Word, prayer, worship, and obedience—so I become a little more like You each day. Thank You that the sting of death is gone and resurrection is sure. Live Your life in me today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
