Week 1 | Day 1 THE ADVENT OF CHRIST Matthew 1:18:2:12 | Luke 2:1-22 | John 1:1-14

Before there was a manger, there was the Word—eternal, divine, the very self-expression of God. In God’s perfect time, the Word (Jesus) became flesh, born in Bethlehem from the line of David, through a virgin, just as God promised. He came not by accident but by design—after 400 years of silence—to live a sinless life and make a full atoning sacrifice for our sin.

Jesus is God’s single solution to the fall and to sin. There is no other name that saves (Acts 4:12), no other way to the Father but through Him (John 14:6). In Him, the eternal, triune God stepped into our world, not only to redeem us, but also to disciple us—calling ordinary people, walking with them, teaching them, correcting them, and sending them out. The same Jesus who once walked with Peter, James, and John now, by His Spirit, walks with us—shaping us day by day into His disciples.

Application

  1. Bow before the King who came near

Respond to the Incarnation with surrender. Bend your knee and your will to the One who loved you enough to take on flesh and die in your place (Philippians 2:5–11).

  1. Let Jesus disciple you in daily life.

Don’t just believe in Him—walk with Him. Meet Him in His Word, talk with Him in prayer, and invite Him into your everyday decisions, relationships, and routines.

  1. Share His good news and live from His finished work.

Tell others about the Savior who came for them, and live each day not in your strength, but in the power of the Gospel—resting in what He has already accomplished on the cross (Isaiah 53).

Prayer

Lord, thank You that the eternal Word became flesh for me—that You came in perfect time, through the line of David, to live the life I could not live and die the death I deserved. Today I bow my heart before You as my Savior, Lord, and Teacher. Walk with me as You did with Your first disciples. Teach me, correct me, and lead me. Help me to share Your good news with those around me and to live each moment in the power of Your finished work on the cross. Amen.
