Week 8 | Day 5 – A GOSPEL FOR EVERYONE – Romans 10:5-13
Paul contrasts two perceived paths to God—law-righteousness that says “do and live” (v.5) and faith-righteousness that says “believe and be saved” (v.6–8). His conclusion is that the way of the Law is a cul-de-sac, while the way of grace through faith is the only way to God.
God brought salvation near in Christ alone—there is no climbing into heaven, no descent to the grave, no heroic effort required. Ours is only a response to the initiative of God. Therefore, “If you confess with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (v.9). It is a Gospel for everyone everywhere, both Jew or Gentile—because the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him for salvation. Thus, anyone who calls on the name of the Lord believing that Jesus is the provision of God will be saved. The Gospel is God’s one solution for everyone, everywhere, received by honest confession and heart-deep faith.
APPLICATION
1 - Admit
Confession is agreement with God that I am a sinner and I cannot fix myself, save myself, or alleviate my guilt. As s result, I must stop negotiating and start acknowledging my sin and need for a Savior.
2 - Believe
Trust and receive from the heart that Jesus alone is God’s lone sufficient answer to the problem of sin—His cross for our guilt, His resurrection for our life. It’s not Jesus-plus my effort—just Jesus.
3 - Confess
Let your faith go public. “Jesus is Lord” is more than words—it’s surrender. What I believe inwardly—I declare and live outwardly.
4 - Call
Don’t delay. When Jesus extends the invitation… believe and receive. “Everyone who calls…” includes you—but it requires your own faith response. We each must call on Him today for salvation—and then keep calling on Him daily to live the Christian life. The same faith that saves us guides us.
5 - Welcome
Since there’s “no difference” between us, we’re all sinners in need of God’s favor, there should be no barriers in our hearts or churches for one another. The same Lord is Lord of all; open your life to all He would bring.
PRAYER
God, thank you that when I was dead in my trespasses and sins and incapable of saving myself, that You stepped into humanity to make an atoning sacrifice to rescue me from the judgment and condemnation my sin deserves. I not only admit my need for forgiveness, I believe and receive that Jesus is the only solution to the problem of my sin. Thank you for Your forgiveness—and now help me to follow You every day by faith serving You in every way. In Jesus' name. Amen.
