Week 2 | Day 2 JESUS MEET WITH NICODEMUS John 3:1-21

Nicodemus comes to Jesus at night, curious and cautious. While he was a respected religious leader, he knew there was more to Jesus than met the eye. Jesus didn’t start with flattery—instead, He went straight to the heart: “You must be born again.” Physical birth isn’t enough; to enter God’s kingdom a person needs a new birth from above, by the Spirit. Then Jesus pointed Nicodemus to a future moment using an important moment in Israel’s history. Just as Moses lifted the bronze serpent so that all who looked would be healed and live, so the Son of Man will be lifted up—on the cross—so that everyone who looks to Him in faith will be heled from sin and have eternal life. This is the meaning of God’s agape love: the Father sent His one and only Son not to condemn the world, but to save it. Yet those who refuse to believe are, in the end, condemning themselves by rejecting the only cure provided by God.

APPLICATION

1. Be Honest About Your Need

Like Nicodemus, religious knowledge and moral effort are not enough—you must be born again by trusting Christ alone.

2. Look to the Lifted-up Savior

Just as the Israelites had to look at the bronze serpent, you must look in faith to Jesus crucified and risen as God’s one and only solution for your sin.

3. Believe is Trust, not just Agreement

True belief is more than nodding to facts about Jesus; it is entrusting your whole life to Him in obedience and dependence.

4. Stop Trying to Save Yourself

No amount of goodness, religion, or effort can give you eternal life—it is a gift received by grace through faith in Christ alone.

PRAYER

Lord, Thank You for meeting Nicodemus in his questions and for meeting me in mine. Thank You that, out of the Father’s great love, You were lifted up on the cross so that all who look to You in faith can live. I confess that my efforts and goodness can never save me. I choose to trust You—to believe not just with my mind, but with my whole life. Make me new by Your Spirit. Help me walk as a child of the light, not hiding in the shadows, and use my life to point others to the hope of being born again in You. In Your name I pray, Amen.
